Devon Air Ambulance had its busiest year in 2018.
They assisted 1,109 people during the year with crews treating almost half of call-outs for people involved in road traffic accidents and other injuries and the remaining call-outs being medical incidents such as heart attacks or people with breathing problems.
Helena Holt the COE of Devon Air
Ambulance said: “Keeping the service airborne last year cost £7.5 million. Raising this amount to ensure the stability of the service is a huge task but being able to further extend our service to 2am really is testament to the fantastic supporters.”
Devon Air Ambulance has now been in operation for the last 27 years and has treated and helped an extra 119 people in 2018.
