Chagword Literary Festival line up
The list of authors for this year’s Chagword, Dartmoor’s Literary Festival, is the best line-up yet.
Jo Brand opens Chagword on Friday evening at the Jubilee Hall and talks us through her practical guide to life in her new book Born Lippy.
The authors for Saturday include TV historians Sam Willis and James Daybell. Also attending will be presenter of Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off Prue Leith, the well-known cook, restauranteur and journalist, this is followed by an illustrated talk by Robin Ravilious, the wife of Devon photographer James Ravilious. The day ends with an evening with War Horse author Michael Morpurgo.
The ‘voice of rugby’ meets the ‘voice of cricket’ Ian Robertson chats to Henry Blofeld to talk all things sporting on Sunday morning.
The weekend long literary festival ends with Timothy Bentinck, better known as David Archer in the long running farming radio drama the Archers. He will be talking about his book ‘Being David Archer and the other Unusual Ways of Earning a Living’.
Other speakers and authors talking are Salley Vickers, Neil Leyshon, poets Christopher Reid and Tiffany Atkinson, and Costa winning novelist Andrew Miller.
There will also be a prize giving for the Chagword Short Story competition. Before the Chagword Festival weekend there is to be a Chagword Children’s Bookfest at Chagford Primary School on the 9th March with Philip Reeve, Sarah MacIntyre and Dan Jamieson and a production of Wind in the Willows by the Pocketwatch Theatre Company at the Jubilee Hall.
