Words & photographs by Derek Hunter
I photograph whatever quickens my pulse! In recent years I have developed a passion for unposed pictures of people going about everyday life.
I continue to retain a fondness for black and white where, with suitable subjects, I can introduce a sense of drama into the scene by eliminating the distraction of colour.
Having developed an interest in photography in my teens, I later undertook formal study of the subject at the Harrow School of Photography majoring in scientific and technical applications of photography. For three decades I worked for the Kodak organisation teaching applied photography across a number of market segments to both customers and staff.
On moving to the West Country I set up a darkroom at home which led to my mounting a number of exhibitions of traditional film-based photography both locally and regionally. I closed my darkroom at the end of 2009 and now work exclusively in the digital medium.
