Uncommon birds arrive as bread and milk disappears

Well it’s gone, The Beast from the East, just as quickly as it arrived.

There was snow and arctic conditions, but by Sunday evening our shops looked like something out of the Soviet cold war era, with shelves empty of just about everything.

With many roads on Dartmoor impassable, food distribution was almost impossible.

Many shops closed as workers could not get into work.

The children got a couple of days off school and got to play in the snow and there were some unusual bird sightings during this cold spell – Redwings, Lapwings and Reed Buntings were reported.
