Celia Moore published her debut novel, Fox Halt Farm, in November and will be taking her book on a tour of Dartmoor.
In the next few weeks she has book signings in Totnes, Crediton, Tedburn St Mary, Okehampton and Widecombe, where she is selling and signing her new book. She says through the book she is meeting new people and catching up with a few friends who she hasn’t seen for years.
Celia grew up on a farm midway between Crockernwell and Whiddon Down.
The book Fox Halt Farm, set over two decades, is a compelling love story with a backdrop of atmospheric Dartmoor.
Everything and everyone Billy loves is threatened, she is alone and betrayed. Richard’s world is aglow with wealth, love and an unswerving family loyalty. THEN THEY MEET. Richard could save Billy, her beloved dairy cows and Fox Halt Farm – but Billy isn’t in the mood to be rescued. Should they trust each other? Will secrets tear them apart?
Fox Halt Farm is in the fictitious village of Hamsgate, just outside Okehampton and the story contrasts the life in the rural community with busy city life in London. The book has scenes in Paris and North Wales too. It starts in 1986 when Billy is just eighteen and runs over twenty years and sees the small farm struggling to survive in the changing economic climate and through the foot and mouth crisis.
This is an emotional love story about people searching out what truly makes them happy.
